Search Queries
A name, place, or other term entered into a search box is transmitted to the third-party provider operating that tool. Ellis County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email or contact-form messages may be retained so a response can be provided. They are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Automatic Technical Data
Standard logs and analytics may record technical details when a page loads, including:
- Internet Protocol address;
- browser name and version;
- device class and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent;
- the referring site, when supplied; and
- request dates and timestamps.
Cookies
Cookies may help measure how visitors use the site. A browser can reject or remove cookies, though some functions may behave differently when they are blocked.

Links lead to sheriff and corrections pages, release-record sources, government portals, and outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy terms govern.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select ads. That processing is controlled by the partner, not by this site.
Limited Data Recipients
Personal information is not sold. It may be provided only to:
- search partners processing a submitted query;
- analytics providers measuring site use;
- advertising networks serving content; or
- law enforcement or a government body acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Measures
Common administrative and technical safeguards are used, but no internet service can promise absolute security or guarantee that a breach will never occur.
